That means you have been learning a few basics. But it does not always guarantee that you won’t make any mistake when paddling. When it comes to paddle strokes, it can be tricky.

One of the common mistakes is when you lower your top hand too much during the recovery or exit stage of the strokes. It is true that your instructor always analyzes and make some corrections in every single stroke you have because you make mistakes. There’s a sensible reason for this. You want to keep your top hand at the shoulder level or higher. But the more you lower it, the more wasted energy you spend.

You may not realize this, but you may pull the paddle back too far, too often. It is the sensible reason why you drop too low. So, the reliable way to do it is not to pull the paddle past your feet and then your top hand will not drop too low. The other scenario is when you lift the blade too high out of the water; then your top hand will drop too low.

Don’t keep your top hand above your shoulder since there will be a waste of energy. Many people don’t realize this until they feel that they get fatigued too often. Support your top hand by supporting the paddle with your bottom hand. This will give slight time to your high hand to rest for a while. The good thing here is that when the “slit time” is totaled, you will have enough time to make your top hand rest. That way, you won’t feel fatigue too often.

If your hand stays in the front of your face, you should not have to move your head. Moving your head too often will not be comfortable at all. So, to handle this matter, you need to determine on where to look. Lock your eyes on the specific spot so that you won’t be distracted by your hands.

The other mistake is when you don’t get the paddle all the way into the water. If you still see the part of the blade when pulling, that indicates that you go too shallow. You will need to go deeper. Don’t work too hard. Instead, do all the techniques correctly. And you will be fine.

Go to the trusted rentals to paddleboards for rent.

***

You may have been doing the paddleboards for rent activity for a while.
